How to Add TELNET to your Windows 7 or Vista PC

TELNET (TErminaL NETwork) is a tool that can be used to check the availability of an email server (i.e. POP3, SMTP).

Windows Vista and Windows 7 has no TELNET installed by default. This is mainly due to security reasons.

Follow the steps below to add/install TELNET in Windows 7:

  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Open Programs and Features
  3. Click “Turn Windows features on or off”
  4. Put a check mark on the box beside “Telnet Client”.

Congratulations! You now have access to the TELNET Client!
